Former Stardew Valley Developer Unveils New Game “Sunkissed City” Coming Later T
Arthur “Mr. Podunkian” Lee, a former developer on Stardew Valley, has officially announced his upcoming game, “Sunkissed City,” set to release later this year. Developed by Lee himself, the game promises to blend beloved features from Stardew Valley with the excitement of urban living, offering fans a fresh yet familiar experience.
Lee, who contributed to Stardew Valley’s 1.4 and 1.5 updates and is involved in the upcoming 1.6 update, departed ConcernedApe LLC in 2022 to pursue independent projects. During his time with ConcernedApe, Lee created the Sanpo engine for future projects. Having received approval to use the engine after leaving, Lee has been actively sharing progress on his new farming game, officially named “Sunkissed City.”

Similar to Stardew Valley, Sunkissed City incorporates familiar activities such as farming, foraging, and fishing. However, it introduces exciting elements to enhance the gameplay. Players assume the role of a new employee at Pico Corporation, navigating the city’s eco-focused initiatives amid challenges like lifeless waters, aggressive wildlife, monster-filled sewers, and mysterious migraines.
Emphasizing an eco-conscious theme, the game prompts players to restore the city’s environment. In addition to traditional skills like cooking, fishing, and combat, Sunkissed City introduces unique skills such as reading, eating, and sleeping, allowing players to level up in various aspects of daily life.
As players progress, they can befriend Apollo City’s quirky residents and explore their businesses, including Salon Flamingo’s hairdresser, Mingo, and The Weird Dog Café’s owner, Henk.
